Learn to embroider the daisy stitch
The daisy stitch is a very popular stitch among embroiderers. This is a free embroidery stitch often used to embroider flower petals on fabric or clothing and is one of the easiest stitches to make.
How to start…
To start our work, we must first gather the necessary material to carry out the embroidery and then we have to select a design. In this specific case, since we are going to learn how to embroider the daisy stitch, we need to select some ideas with beautiful flowers that we will show you below.
How to embroider the daisy stitch
To start embroidering the daisy stitch, we first make a simple chain stitch sequence to form the design we want. It is important to say that with this stitch you can easily embroider small flowers to decorate your embroidery.
Here's a step-by-step guide (suitable for beginners):
We begin by transferring the desired design to the fabric or clothing that we intend to embroider, with the help of tracing paper (also known as carbon paper), remember that you must be careful when copying the design on the fabric since it is white. See how carbon paper can dirty fabric if not handled very carefully.
After finishing the copy of the design, the embroidery work continues, thus beginning the embroidery project with the daisy stitch.
The embroidery process...
To make the daisy stitch we must thread our needle with the desired color of thread, and start with the needle in the center of the flower.
We make a loop and put the needle back in the exact place where we started the stitch.
The loop (circle) must cover the petal that we are embroidering. We withdraw the needle again at the high point of the petal to fix the point on the fabric with another small point.
To make all the other stitches that will form the flower embroidered with the daisy stitch, we remove the needle next to the starting stitch, we make another ring of the same size as the previous one and then we fix it to the fabric with the small stitch.
Finally, we repeat the execution and fixation of the rings until the flower has the desired number of petals.
Finally, we show below some ideas of flowers embroidered with daisy stitches, after all the petals are finished:
