Flower stitch - Step by step

La flower stitch is a stitch in spanish embroidery, ideal for embroidering on table runners, tablecloths, individual, patent leather, cushions, napkins, towels, folders and bedding. This beautiful project can be worked in one or more colors of yarn.

How to embroider...

1 - Start embroider a grid of asterisks. Thread the needle with another thread and pass it under the middle strand of the second asterisk. Bring it to the opposite strand and pass the needle under it.

2 - pass three times the thread under the selected strands to form a spike. Next, pass the needle under the upper left thread and proceed in the same way making the corresponding loop.

3 - To form the third petal of the flower, pass the needle under the two central strands of the asterisks involved in the stitch. Do not stretch the yellow thread too much so as not to deform the stitch.

4 - Continue working in the same way until forming each of the petals of the flower that we are embroidering. Remember that you must always pass the thread three times under the threads base so that the petals remain thick and firm.

5 - This is how the full flower looks. A detail to highlight is the combination of colors, since it is important to select bold and contrasting tones.

6 - To start the second flower you must remove the needle to the right of the fabric, just below the central strand on the right side of the third asterisk. Bring the thread to the center strand of the next asterisk to form the petal.

7 - Continue with the preparation of the first petal of the second flower. For the other petals work in the same way, always passing the needle three times under the selected strands.

8 - This is the sample of the grid of asterisks full of little embroidered flowers. In order for all the petals to look the same, they must have the same tension in the threads, at the moment of interlacing them in the asterisks.
