The stitch that looks like bricks!
The brick stitch is a series of staggered back stitches that form a pretty pattern that, you guessed it, looks like bricks! It is actually very simple to learn how to do a brick stitch. Using this stitch is a great way to add some texture to your embroidery creations and projects. Also, this stitch can be used to fill shapes in a very careful way (leaves, for example).
How to do the brick stitch - Step by step
To start, go up the back of the fabric and make a single stitch.
Next, skip a small gap, the same size as the length of the first stitch, and work your way up through the fabric.
Then, go back down next to the first stitch you made.
Repeat the desired length of the shape you want to fill.
Next, start directly below the dotted line you've made and work your way up below the middle of one of the dots you've made. This work will begin to stagger the stitches of your project.
Continue making reverse stitches, but make sure the stitches you are embroidering are staggered so that the end of each stitch is below the middle of each stitch above.
double brick stitch
When doing a double brick stitch, you'll make two lines of back stitches whose points are aligned, and then you'll alternate another two lines of back stitches underneath. Then repeat this procedure until you have filled in the entire shape of your design.
I hope this brick stitch tutorial was easy to follow and helped you learn how to do this wonderful embroidery stitch. Try it out by filling in some embroidery designs with simple shapes the next time you are embroidering your creations!
